Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a Rotary’s leadership training program for young people, designed to provide an educational and social experience with the emphasis on leadership training.
Facilitated annually by Rotary Districts throughout the world, RYLA is designed to offer a special opportunity to develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship in young people in the community: to grow emerging leaders and equip them to take leadership positions at work and in the community.
District 9930’s RYLA programme (Central North Island) is carefully developed to explore many aspects of leadership using a mixture of interactive training workshops and physical activities. The programme is endorsed by the University of Waikato, which enhances its credibility for sponsors, employers and participants alike.
Participants have the opportunity to grow and develop their leadership networks through being part of a cohort of emerging leaders, expanding their network of Rotarian contacts and meeting a range of prominent local leaders.
RYLA is open to young people aged 20 – 26 with participants are selected by their local Rotary Club and sponsored to attend the course by their club or their employer. RYLA is held at Epworth Recreation Centre, on Lake Karapiro in April each year and applications close February of that year.
